Closing time

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention? I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you to stop what you’re doing and listen.

This blog here? The one you’ve been reading for years, months, days, or minutes (as the case may be)? Its done.

There, there. I know it hurts. But it will get better. I promise.

And really? This hurts me more than it hurts you.

Okay. Bur for real, in all seriousness, this blog really is about to be done.

Here’s the deal. I started this blog on a whim one late night almost two years ago. I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d still be blogging now, especially since I didn’t even know how to insert a hyperlink on a word document. I had no idea how blogging or even the internet, worked.

Though, to be fair, I still have no idea how the internet works. (Magic.)

But, I’m not a graduate student anymore. I’m a professor. And as such, I do feel that *some* of the stuff I post here may not be all that appropriate if a student were to discover my blog.

I thought about going back and deleting certain posts. Until I realized that I have over 500 posts and probably 89% of them would have to be deleted. Sensitive content, you see. My students don’t need to know that I have a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio (right, Jillian?)

They probably don’t need to know about my crush on Clay Matthews either, but I have a feeling that will come out in class sometime.

So, while this blog is going to be dying (sigh…so much work…so much time…ugh), I felt that this was also an opportunity.

I’m starting a new blog!

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to auto-update links from other websites or how to move recipes from this blog, etc. So, that isn’t going to happen. No RSS feeds will be automatically updated (unless someone knows how to do that and can teach an old dog a new trick), and no email subscriptions are going to carry over.

Sorry. But you can do all that (again) from the new blog!

I’m not going to do daily posts, because well, because I don’t have time for that. But I’ve got a schedule lined out.

  • Mondays are cookies
  • Wednensdays are crafts Get it? Cookies and Crafts? (I’m clever)
  • Fridays are grab bags (i.e. whatever I feel like posting)

I’ll still be my usual witty (marginally funny), intelligent (modest), and informative (random) self, but without the swearing and the inappropriateness.

I’ll be all professional and stuff.

I’m leaving this blog as is for the weekend, but come next week, its going to be password protected. I am keeping it up only for the recipes and so I can read it and what not, but if there is a recipe or something that you saw and want, go get it now.
