At what age is it no longer appropriate to laugh at the word “balls”? May I never reach that age…
I’ve been eye-balling Averie’s balls and Katie’s babies for a while now. Here’s the thing though. I don’t like nuts (hehe). Yes, I LOVE nut butters, but for some reason (the same reason my brothers like ketchup and not tomatoes?) I have to force myself to eat nuts (you know, healthy fats, yadda yadda yadda). Both these ladies’ fine recipes, however, use nuts and/or nut powders as the main ingredient. Since flaxseed is also one of those healthy fats my body so craves, I thought I’d see if that would work as a substitute for the ground nuts. Because I like to think outside the box was too lazy to look up the recipes, I didn’t really follow either exactly, but both of these ladies deserve equal credit for inspiring me. Appropriately, I have decided to call these Baby Balls. (I am totally giggling to myself right now, because I am that mature.)
30 grams dates, pitted and soaked
1 tsp instant coffee powder
2 tsp cocoa powder, dark
stevia, to tasteDirections:
Combine all ingredients in Magic Bullet and process until completely combined.
Form into 6 balls. Coat balls in more cocoa powder, if desired.
I am starting to feel a cold coming on, so I am drinking lots and trying to keep myself warm. Remember those fingerless mittens I mentioned? I finished them a couple days ago, and they are keeping me nice and cozy as I type away! LOVE these things.
