Some days I can’t get myself to sit down and work. Other days, I am on such a role, that getting up to go to the bathroom or get some breakfast seems like a bad idea, lest I lose all motivation after moving the 10 fest from my computer. The latter was my morning. I was on such a role that the only thing that got me up out of my chair was the thought of a smoothie.
I decided to forego the avocado smoothie this morning, or rather the not-quite-ripe-yet avocados decided for me. Besides avocados, my other obsession addiction is almond butter. Well, really any nut butter, but I was craving almonds today. Luckily, my stock is in full bloom, after last week’s trip to Trader Joe’s. (Dear Trader Joe’s: Please open a store closer than 2 hours from me. I promise you won’t regret it. Love, Katie)
I have become addicted obsessed with flavored stevia drops. I was first introduced to them by Heather’s blog, and she has a bunch of recipes using the vanilla drops. But people, hold onto your hats, because yesterday, I also found chocolate stevia drops! What goes better with almond butter than chocolate? (Answer: Nothing) Witness the birth of my latest smoothie obsession addiction. If I were a fortune teller, I’d tell myself to prepare for many a morning with this little lover in hand. (This “recipe” is very similar to the Vanilla Avocado Smoothie, but sounds much more decadent. You could, I suppose, eat it for dessert, but its so healthy, why waste a dessert?)
Chocolate-Almond Butter Smoothie (Serves 1)
1 T almond butter
1 1/2 cups almond milk
5-10 vanilla stevia drops
5-10 chocolate stevia drops
1/4 tsp guar gum and xanthan gum
Spoonful agar pudding base
Blend everything until creamy, fluffy, and delicious.
Don’t forget, I’ve extended the deadline for recipes until January 29. Send your favorite recipe to email@example.com. It doesn’t need to be healthy or hard or fantastic. Something off the top of your head, your go-to meal, a snack idea, a favorite cookie, etc. The recipes I’ve gotten so far look really great!
Since this is kind of a cop-out post, I’ll leave you with my latest sewing (my other addiction obsession) project. Remember that cute pink owl fabric? A friend asked me to make an apron for her 1 1/2 year old daughter, and I thought it would be cute. I didn’t use a pattern and just eye-balled the size (relying on my vast knowledge of how big toddlers are…) so I hope it fit!
