While riding my bike home from my school office yesterday, I felt like the Wicked Witch of the West in the beginning of the Wizard of Oz. You know, where she is on the bike in the air during the tornado. The wind was gusting at 40 mph and while I wasn’t wearing a black cone hat, I did have my on my bike helmet (yes, I am that nerd with a helmet on, but I’ve also been hit by a car on my bike, so I am justified. Not that I need to justify safety, I just don’t want to ruin my rep.) It was nuts, I tell you. The wind, that is.
This may be “outing myself” as a nerd (which I suppose you are used to by now), but I met with some friends at the hippie-est coffee shop in town to talk about…expectant pause….genetic data analysis (pushes up nerd glasses). So I didn’t get home until way past my dinner time. (I was just having way too much fun talking about statistics to leave at a reasonable hour!)
Intense hunger + Crazy wind = Fastest dinner ever
I think all dishes should be labeled with their intended contents, don’t you? Since I shun rules, I usually eat cereal and smoothies out of this bowl, but last night I was feeling like a square. I let my bowl boss me around. It’s cool though, the bowl still knows who’s the boss. (Right, Tony Danza?)
I made the fastest, easiest soup ever in my Vitamix. I can’t even call it a recipe. I put in two jars of roasted red peppers (minus the liquid), a can of whole tomatoes, a couple cloves of garlic, and a spoonful of brown sugar. Turned the Soup-maker Extraordinaire (aka The Beautiful One, aka the VitaSouper) while the oven roasted some veggies for me and I washed the ever-present mound o dishes. 10 minutes and a clean kitchen later, I was eating dinner.
Lori (of Green Weeks fame) was crazy nice enough to ask me to write a guest post for her blog. If you missed it yesterday and aren’t sick of me yet, head over there and check out my smoothie ramblings recipes.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS!!!! They’ve been married for 33 (mostly) blissful years with five amazing (ahem) children to show for it! High school sweethearts…awwww. (Yes, they got married on April Fools Day. Now you know where I got my sense of humor?)
