I have absolutely no plans for the day. (While writing this post, I stared a list. It is now about 10 lines long. After I start a list, I can’t stop.) I actually didn’t have much planned for the entire weekend, and as a planner, this is a rarity. I think I did a pretty job of taking advantage of unstructured day yesterday, with minimal computer time and maximum relaxation time. Relaxation to me: reading, cooking and crafting. That’s what I did yesterday; that’s what I’ll probably do today.
I was out of my house at the crack of dawn yesterday (7:15!) to go for a hike in Sedona.
I think this is submarine rock? All the big formations like this have names in Sedona. Most of them I don’t really get (Coffee Pot rock looks nothing like a coffee pot, for example). Maybe it is just my lack of creativity. There is one called chimney rock. That one I get; it looks like a chimney. When you name something exactly what it looks like, I get it. You kind of have to spell things out for me.
My 7 months pregnant friend!
Check out this crazy cactus. My friend’s husband and almost-2 year old daughter were with us hiking. The 2 year old pointed to every cactus and told us it was, in fact, a cactus. It was cute…for about 10 minutes. (There are A LOT of cacti on that trail.) She got bored after about 30 minutes, thank god. My Katie, what maternal instincts you have. Yes, yes, I know. That clock that women are supposed to have? I’m pretty sure mine’s broken.
I have been in such a great mood since this hike. What can I say, I love the summer and the summer loves me.
I came home and read an entire book for the afternoon. No joke. A 400 page book. Judy Blume’s Summer Sisters. I’ll do a review of it soon, but here’s my first thought: it’s hard to go wrong with a book by the woman who wrote a series of books about Blubber. You know?
I came up with a perfectly summer-y mid-afternoon pudding snack. Katie, I think you’d love this.
- 1/2 batch of Katie’s agar pudding base (or 6 ounces silken tofu)
- 1/2 medium lime
- 1 medium kiwi
- 10-20 drops vanilla stevia (or use vanilla extract and sweetener of choice)
Directions: Blend until creamy. I made this in the bullet.
I also made some cookies, some salad dressing, and some homemade orange marmalade/jam and started a couple embroidery projects. I completely “winged” (wung?) the cookie recipe, and it turned out great. I’ll post the recipe….soon. That Katie is such a tease, isn’t she? I have to say something to get you to come back!
I’m off to the grocery store for my day of getting crafty in the kitchen (stole that from Ashlei…)! I am such a nerd (honestly, can I stop saying this now? Do we all know that I am a nerd?) that going to the grocery store is fun for me! I know *ahem* a couple others that really enjoy the grocery store, so at least I am not alone.
Talk to me: I just finished month one of P90X. Do any of you have any interest in hearing a month one recap? Hello, McFly, is this thing on?
